Team India are likely to rest most of their senior players during the T20 series against the Kiwis which will start in less than a week after the final of the ICC T20 World Cup. A young Indian team will face New Zealand at home to play 3 T20 matches. The squad will mainly comprise of emerging players picked from the Indian Premier League. India will play three T20Is matches on November 17, 19 and 21 at Jaipur, Ranchi and Kolkata. India will also play two Tests starting November 25 in Kanpur and December 3 in Mumbai. India will then travel to South Africa for an all-format tour.

Senior Indian players like skipper Virat Kohli, his deputy Rohit Sharma and many others have been in the bio secure bubble since the World Test Championship held in June. Pacers like Jaspirt Bumrah and Mohammad Shami might also be rested after the T20 WC.
“Most of the Indian players, the senior ones have now been in three back-to-back bubbles for four months. Possibly after T20 World Cup, you would want them to take a break and rejuvenate before the South Africa tour starting December end,” a source tracking development in the selection committee told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Kohli will surely be rested after deciding to step down as the captain of Team India from the T20I format. That means, Rohit Sharma might be asked to lead the side. Rohit Sharma is currently India’s white ball vice-captain and will takeover the captaincy duties from Virat Kohli in the T20 format after the ICC T20 World Cup.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devdutt Padikkal, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan and Venkatesh Iyer will surely be included in the home series against NZ.
