These two former cricketers are the frontrunners to become the coach of Lucknow franchise

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower and New Zealand’s legend spin bowler Daniel Vettori are the leading contenders in becoming the head coach of new IPL franchise-Lucknow.

Andy Flower is the leading contender after leaving his position as the assistant coach of Punjab Kings. KL Rahul who is the likely to become the captain of the new franchise has good relations with Andy as they have worked together in the past. It is also reported that the two have recommended each other’s name for the respective roles.

The BCCI is currently focused on investigating CVC Capitals after alleged reports of betting emerged. Therefore, the Board has asked Sanjiv Goenka to wait until further confirmation.

CVC Capitals and RSPG Group won the bidding process in finding the owners of two new IPL teams Ahmedabad and Lucknow on October 25.

Earlier this week, Andy Flower resigned as the assistant coach of IPL franchise Punjab Kings.

“He sent his resignation to the team recently. It has been accepted. There is a good chance that he goes to one of the new teams (Lucknow or Ahmedabad),” a BCCI official was quoted as saying to PTI.

Punjab Kings retained only two players-Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh and they currently have a salary purse of INR 72 crores. Their skipper KL Rahul asked the team to release him ahead of the 2022 edition of IPL.
