It is not unknown that Team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri will be stepping down from his esteemed position after the 2021 T20 World Cup. After much anticipation, it has also been reported that India’s ex-cricketer turned coach Rahul Dravid will replace Ravi Shastri as Team India’s head coach and his reign will extend till the 2023 ODI World Cup. The question now arises that what’s next for Ravi Shastri?
Well before being appointed as team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri had made quite a name for himself as a commentator. He has worked in the Indian Premier League for several years as a host and as a commentator and he was quite good at his job. It’s true that his comments during the live matches targeting certain cricketers have often raised some controversies – the name that comes to mind first after hearing it is that of Sourav Ganguly, but that has long been forgotten and the overall impression of him is that he is a good commentator.
It is thus being reported that post his T20 World Cup, he can resume his job as a commentator. Another option that has been proposed is of being the coach of an IPL franchise.
“He’ll be selective. He’ll be open to working with an IPL franchise. Year-round travel is something he would like to avoid now,” The Times of India quoted as sources close to Shastri as saying.
It is hard to tell at this point as to which franchise might have an opening for the Indian head coach but any team will proabably be more than happy to sign him given his wide spectrum of experience in the field.
This is what Ravi Shastri’s new job will be after stepping down as the head coach of Team India
