This player equals Virat Kohli’s record in T20Is; Breaks two other records too

India’s new T20I skipper Rohit Sharma has equaled Virat Kohli’s record for the most 50+ scores in the shortest format of game. Rohit achieved this feat during the 2nd T20I match between India and New Zealand in Ranchi.

The Men in Blue registered a 7 wicket win over the Kiwis on Friday at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi. Rohit Sharma and co have taken a 2-0 lead in the series after the emphatic win.

While chasing down the target of 154, Rohit Sharma led Team India from the front by scoring a fifty and eventually winning the match for his side. The duo of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma put up 117 runs for the opening wicket. Rahul scored 65 off 49 while Rohit smashed 55 off 36 deliveries.

Rohit’s 55 run knock saw him equaling Virat Kohli’s record of most 50+ scores in T20Is. Kohli has 29 fifty+ scores in T20 Internationals. Rohit achieved this feat in 118 matches while Kohli achieved it in 91 matches.

Beside surpassing this record, Rohit Sharma also overtook Babar Azam and Martin Guptill to go on top of the list of batters involved in most 100+ stands in T20Is. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul registered their fifth 100+ stands which takes the Hitman to 13 such partnerships. Babar Azam and Martin Guptill have 12 hundred+ stands to their name.
