After playing for several IPL franchises Manish Pandey will reportedly replace Virat Kohli to become the new captain of RCB.
Virat Kohli announced last season that he will no longer lead RCB from the 2022 edition of IPL but will continue to play for the team. RCB are considering many options but the name which emerges out of all is Manish Pandey.
If reports are to be believed the Bangalore based franchise are likely to break the bank to sign the 32-year-old. The Karnataka based franchise has previously played for the franchise in the first three seasons. It was a crucial knock for the team because it sent them to the finals in 2009. The middle order batsmen was the first player to score a century in the cash rich league.
Pandey has loads of experience and has also captained Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Manish Pandey is the frontrunner to become the captain of RCB after Virat Kohli stepped down as the captain of the team. With Kohli opening the innings, Manish Pandey could very well fit in the No.3 position. The 32-year-old batter has played at the position for Karnataka.
After playing for RCB in the first three seasons, Pandey moved to Pune Warriors India prior to the 2011 edition of IPL. He continued to play for the franchise till 2013.
In the 2014 auctions of the IPL, KKR signed the Karnataka based player. After spending about four years in KKR, Pandey moved to SRH during the 2018 auctions. In 2018 he was SRH’s most expensive player as they brought him for INR 11 crores. Since then, he has proved his mettle while playing for the Hyderabad based franchise.
Pandey has an experience of 154 IPL matches in which he has scored 3560 runs at an average of 30.68.
