Just In : Finally This Player Making Comeback In IPL After 7 Years !

Mitchell Starc

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc who has played his last game in the IPL for RCB in 2015 wants to return to the cash rich league.

Mitchell Starc on Wednesday said that he is considering putting his name in the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auctions. It’s been almost 7 years since the left arm pacer played his last match in the league. Due to injuries Starc has been out of the league for a long time now. But the 31-year-old is now interested in participating in the tournament once again.

“I’ve got two days to get my paperwork in, so that might be something to do today before training. I’ve not put my name down just yet, but I’ve got a couple more days to decide on that. It’s certainly on the table regardless of what the schedule has got coming up. I haven’t been for six years or so,” Mitchell Starc was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au ahead of the fifth and the final Ashes Test in Hobart.

“Obviously, with a heavy weighting towards T20s over the last period of time and the World Cup coming up later this year, that’s one to take into consideration as well. There’s a bit going on with scheduling and what-not to get our heads around, certainly for us multi-format players,” he further added.

Starc has played 27 games for RCB in 2014 and 2015 editions of IPL. After which he was picked up by KKR in the 2018 auctions. Starc missed the whole season due to a leg injury. He was released by KKR in November 2018 as he needed a long break for the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup in England.

The IPL 2022 mega auctions is going to be a two-day affair and will be held on February 12 and 13. Additionally two new teams-Lucknow and Ahmedabad will participate in the league.

“Yes, the auction will be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13,” IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel said.

Sanjiv Goenka owned Lucknow franchise and CVC Capitals owned Ahmedabad franchise have both received the LOI from BCCI earlier this week.

“Yes, a formal clearance has been given to both Lucknow and Ahmedabad franchises. Both of them have been given two weeks’ time to finalize their draft picks,” Brijesh Patel added.

On Tuesday, the IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed that the title sponsors will be TATA for the upcoming two seasons.
