India’s opening batsmen KL Rahul gets back into fitness after suffering a thigh strain ahead of the two match test series against New Zealand at home.

Team India suffered a huge blow after opener KL Rahul suffered a muscle strain on his left thigh. KL Rahul’s absence was felt in the 1st test against NZ at Kanpur as both the openers failed to make a mark. Shubman Gill only managed to score a fifty in the 1st innings.

Middle order batsmen Suryakumar Yadav replaced KL Rahul in the home test series.

Team India are hoping that KL Rahul gets back into full fitness ahead of the South Africa tour which is starting from December 17.

The 29-year-old Karnataka batsmen himself declared that he is on his way back to fitness. KL Rahul shared some pictures from his official twitter account on Tuesday wherein he has seen working in the gym.

Rahul captioned the post as “Baby steps” followed by a bicep emoji which in this case could mean ‘fitness’.

KL Rahul was named as the vice-captain for the three match T20I series against New Zealand at home. Team India under new full time skipper Rohit Sharma won the series convincingly by 3-0.

Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Rishabh Pant will return to India’s team for the South Africa tour. The team is expected to fly to the African Country by December 7-8 and will reach within December 9.

India will play three T20Is, three ODIs and four test matches against South Africa. CSA has assured that bio-secure environment will be created for Team India players. A chartered flight will be used to travel from Mumbai to Johannesburg.
