Twitter Reaction: Hardik Pandya denies easy single to Dinesh Karthik on 2nd Last Ball – Fans are furious at him

The T-20 series of India and South Africa begins today with the first match being at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Rishabh Pant led Indian team batted first after South Africa chose to bowl first winning the toss. India started off well with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan. Ishan Kishan went on to play a mind-blowing innings of 76 runs from 48 deliveries. Middle order also performed pretty well taking team’s score to 200+.

Shreyas Iyer joined Ishan Kishan in the middle after Wayne Parnell dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad. Both players took the score of 137 before Kishan handed a catch to debutant Tristan Stubbs off Keshav Maharaj’s bowling. Iyer lost his stumps to Dwaine Pretorius soon as India were down to 156/3.

Hardik Pandya who is back in the international team after a long time played a destructive innings of 12 ball 31 with 3 sixes and 2 boundaries.

Even after such an innings fans are not happy with Hardik Pandya. Pandya who remained not out till the end with Dinesh Karthik at the other end had refused to give an easy single to DK who was at the non striker end. In the second last ball of the 20th over Hardik Pandya refused a single to Dinesh Karthik as he was hitting the ball well. The teams score at the end settles at 211/4.

Visitors South Africa would like to win this match and they are also seen to be batting really well. India will also play test and odi series against South Africa in the upcoming days.

Hardik Pandya was trolled for his decision on denying single to Dinesh Karthik in the second last ball of the final over. The all rounder was also called “over confident” by netizens.

Even former Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra who was the head coach of Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans also believed that Pandya should have taken that single as an in form finisher was at the other end.

“He should have taken a single before the last ball. It was Dinesh Karthik at the other end, not me,” said Nehra.”Hardik Pandya is someone who can play all kinds of roles.

“We have seen him performing in Tests and ODIs as well. With his batting ability, he can perhaps bat at any position. He was captain for Gujarat and contributed with the ball as well. It was a different role.”
