IPL 2022, 29 April, LSG vs PBKS, The newly added team Lucknow Supergiants played the 42nd match against Punjab Kings. Punjab won the toss and chose to bowl first in a condition very much suitable to bat in the second innings because of the dew factor. But Punjab failed to make it up to a win as the newcomer is setting some high standards on the field.
Lucknow batting first scored a fighting total of 153 for 9 with a failed middle order today. Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda were the two run makers for Lucknow today scoring 46 and 34 respectively. First innings ended with a top class performance of Kagiso Rabada who took 4 wickets for 38 runs. Rahul Chahar got 2 for 30 runs and Sandeep Sharma got de Kock. Livingston bowled just two overs and was the most expensive one for them as per economy.
The second innings started well for Punjab with some quick fiers from Mayank. But it ended up fast with both the openers getting dismissed for 46 in just 6.3 overs.
J. Bairstow kept hold of the innings for a time but couldn’t take his team home as he got dismissed for 32 from 28 deliveries.
Not a great performance was shown by PBKS in the match as they shifted the momentum towards LSG at the beginning itself losing three main batsmen for just 53. Mohsin Khan’s spell would be pretty much in memory for him as he took 3 wickets and just conceded 24 runs. Chameera and Pandya got 2 wickets each and Bisnoi picked 1.
It was an all round performance from LSG. The newcomers have been pretty much competitive. LSG made it to the third spot with the win against PBKS and would like to see themselves in the top.
LSG has 12 points with 6 wins and 3 loses in 9 matches so far.
