Cheteshwar Pujara is really making a statement with his remarkable performance in the ongoing season of the County Championship, notching up his fourth successive hundred in the County Championship Div 2 for Sussex against Middlesex on Saturday.
The Indian batsman has already scored two double centuries for Sussex apart from one hundred before this game. Pujara had made 203 and faced 334 balls, in which he hit 24 fours.
Looking at the class of Cheteshwar Pujara, even the official social media handles of Sussex Cricket shared the video clip of him playing impressive shots all around the ground to reach a remarkable century. The caption read, “Fourth match, fourth 100+ score. It’s a privilege to watch, @cheteshwar1.”
Pujara also battled against Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi in a fiery spell and even counter-attacked the left-arm pacer with an uppercut that flew over the ropes for a six. His punch off the backfoot was equally sublime as Afridi was forced to change his length early in his spell.
Pujara’s fighting hundred came in the second innings after he was dismissed for 16 runs in the first innings, failing to tackle the Middlesex bowlers.
After failing to find a buyer in the recent IPL auction, Pujara has decided to play in the County Championship in England. He was also dropped from the Indian Test team after a below-average performance during India’s tour of South Africa.
