Chennai Super Kings can be seen having a rough patch again this season. Currently placed at the 9th position in the points table with only 4 points CSK’s new captain Ravindra Jadeja seemed quite uncomfortable with the role of captaincy. 2 days before the start of the campaign, Dhoni handed over the baton to Ravindra Jadeja so as to groom him for the upcoming seasons as a captain. Jadeja accepted the role and started preparing for the role. But the pressure of captaincy is not everyone’s cup of tea.
The allrounder was seen quite in high pressure as he lost his destructive batting style. The in-form batsman was seen unable to middle the ball and getting out quickly. His natural flow was decreasing match after match with increasing responsibilities. In 8 matches so far his bowling performance was neither upto the mark. He has 5 wickets at an economy rate of 8.19. Captain Jadeja only managed to win 2 matches out of 8.
Ravindra Jadeja who started the season as the captain has handed over the job again to the former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni led CSK to 4 IPL trophies and 2 champions league trophy in his tenure of captaincy.
On 30 th April, the CSK management issued a statement, “Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK. MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game.”
Fans are delighted as The skipper can be seen again in the toss and post match presentation. Dhoni who had led CSK to 4 trophies and 9 ipl finals will be again seen leading his team. Chances of CSK qualifying this season seems quite difficult but fans hope for the comeback for what CSK is known for all these years.
CSK are resting in the 9th position in the points table with 2 wins in 8 matches so far.
