On Day 2 of the ongoing Pink Ball test match between India and Sri Lanka at the famous M. Chinnaswami Stadium, two die-hard fans of Virat Kohli intruded inside the field, skipping the guards and barricades to click a selfie with their idol. Virat Kohli obliged and gave them the selfie but according to reports, the two youngsters have now been taken under custody by the Cubbon Park Police station.
According to the police, an FIR has been filed against the two youngsters for their adventurous act and that is why they have been arrested. Reports said that one of the fans live in Kaluburagi while the other lives in Bengaluru itself where the match is being played. Both of them were brought under police custody on Monday, March 14.
They have been charged for trespassing and violating police protocols.
On a particular over on Day 2 when Sri Lanka was batting, Mohammad Shami hit Kusal Mendis with delivery and he was taking some treatment on the ground. The two fans, sensing the opportunity, ran inside the stadium by jumping over the fences and went up to Virat Kohli. Soon the guards caught hold of them and dragged them out of the field but fortunately, they had taken the selfie by then.
The police reported that both the boys are minors which means that they are below the age of 18. This implies that the police will probably not be able to hold them in custody for long.
We have seen fans intruding inside the fields to meet their idols on several occasions previously as well. Most notably, an Australian Team India fan by the name of Jarvo had done this on uncountable instances during the India-Australia series and he too was arrested for his unruly behaviour.
