So far, the Mumbai born kid has scalped all six wickets in Team India’s first innings. Ajaz Patel started the second day of the test in a right note by removing wicket-keeper batsmen Wriddhiman Saha. The latest one to fall in his trap is Ravichandran Ashwin.

The 33-year-old bowled a magical delivery that sent the veteran Indian off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin out for a golden duck. Ashwin’s first delivery was his last one in the 1st innings of the game.

While bowling from round the wicket angle, Ajaz tossed up the delivery. The ball was pitched on full length at middle and leg and drifted with slow pace which brought the batsmen with a defensive stroke. Upon pitching the ball turned big, beating Ashwin’s outside edge and went on to hit the stumps.

Skipper Tom Latham and Ajaz Patel went up in delight straightaway. Ashwin was totally confused and went for a review thinking if it had hit the stumps or is it for a caught behind.

Ravi Ashwin went for a ‘T’ call which meant DRS as he had no idea that he was bowled. The on-field umpire Anil Chaudhary then said that he was bowled. He asked his partner Mayank Agarwal who convinced him that he was bowled.

Things have gone as per the plans as Ajaz picked up two in two deliveries. After picking up the wicket of Saha, Ajaz Patel becomes the first Kiwi spinner to take a five-wicket haul in the 1st innings of a game against India. The previous best was of Jeetan Patel whose figures were 4/100 in 2012 at Hyderabad.
