The Indian Premier League is considered one of the biggest leagues in the world. But few instances question this fact. So does the umpiring in recent years. In the game between CSK and DC on 8th May, which took place in the DY Patil stadium, Mumbai, David Warner was seen unhappy with Umpire’s decision of giving him out.
DC and CSK were playing the 55th match of the season. DC won the toss and invited CSK to bat first. CSK batting first got a smooth start by both the openers. Ruturaj who got his lost form back scored 44 with Devon Conway’s destructive 87 off 49 balls. They took on DC’s bowling unit and smashed them all round the park. Dube played an effective knock in the middle. Finishing touches were given by Dhoni who scored 21 off 8 deliveries.
DC came out to chase the massive target of 209 but lost their early wicket in the form of KS Bharat. David Warner in the other end in his red hot form continued to bring on the momentum but in the second ball of the 4th over lost his wicket to M Theekshana. While playing a reverse sweep he got the ball on the pads and umpire Nitin Menon raised his finger. Though review was taken immediately but came out helpless as there was no bat and ball contact and in the ball tracker the ball was slightly hitting the wickets. Warner was given out on the basis of on field Umpire’s decision. This made the Australian batter unhappy as he made his displeasure known to the umpire while walking back to the pavilion.
DC lost the match by 91 runs. The video became viral in the internet.
