During the second semi-final match between Australia and Pakistan, David Warner sends a Hafeez’s delivery out of the park. The ball tapped twice before reaching the batsmen.
Batting first, Pakistan had put up a total of 176/4 in front of the Aussies at the Dubai International Stadium. Mohammad Rizwan played a brilliant innings of 67 runs and helped reach Pakistan to this massive total. Fakhar Zaman played a wonderful knock of 52 runs in the end.
In response to the total, the Aussies had a horrible start to the innings. Skipper Aaron Finch departed for a first ball duck. However, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh took hold of the innings and kept the scoreboard moving for the Kangaroos.
However, a bizarre incident took place in the first ball of the eight over when Mohammad Hafeez was handed the leather. While trying to bowl the first ball of the over, the ball accidently slipped of Hafeez’s hands and reached the southpaw after bouncing a couple of times. The southpaw came out of his crease and smashed a six over the deep mid-wicket. Umpire Richard Kettleborough immediately signaled it as a ‘NO BALL’. A ‘FREE HIT’ was awarded to the southpaw in the next delivery.
Mohammad Hafeez did not look happy as he was trying to convince the umpire that it should have been a ‘DEAD BALL’. However, Pakistan were lucky enough as Warner managed to take only two runs in the free hit.
