IPL 2022, Qualified Lucknow Supergiants took on Kolkata Knight Riders in the 66th game of the ongoing IPL season at DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. Winning the toss LSG elected to bat first though the pitch prefers the toss winner to take bowling, but believing on their defending ability Rahul chose to bat first.

Batting first, the Lucknow openers created history by registering the highest total ever in IPL without the loss of a single wicket. The opening partnership ended upon playing all the 20 overs registering 210 on the board. Quinton de Kock’s brilliant 140 off 70 balls includes 10 boundaries and 10 sixes. Rahul on the other hand tried to anchor the innings by scoring 68 off 51.

In the reply, KKR batsmen also came up strongly. Though they lost both their openers early, the middle order kept them alive. Nitish Rana played an effective knock of 42 of 22 with the skipper’s half century, things were getting better. But KKR lost their biggest asset early that is Andre Russell. But Rinku Singh and Sunil Narine almost took the match away from LSG.

The last over was a quite dramatic one with Marcus Stoinis bowling it. Rinku Singh smashed the first 4 balls all round the park. 18 runs came of the first 4. In the next ball Rinku Singh got dismissed by an unbelievable catch by Evin Lewis. A fullish, outside off slower delivery of which Rinku Singh lofts it over the extra cover. Not much power behind it and Lewis took a ripper while running from the deep and grabbing it in one hand. Rinku Singh had to leave KKR with 3 still needed from 1.

Umesh Yadav came in but couldn’t win it for KKR as Stoinis bowled him in the very first ball. LSG won the match by 2 runs and eliminated KKR out of the playoffs for this season.
