The incident took place on the 37th over of Team India’s 2nd innings. Tim Southee was repeatedly bowling short deliveries in the hope that Gill will hit it straight to the deep square leg fielder. Therefore, Gill made some room for himself and smashed it towards the mid-wicket boundary for a four. It was Gill’s first boundary of his innings.
Soon after the ball reached the boundary ropes, the Mumbai crowd started chanting ‘Sachin…. Sachin”.
