We have witnessed one of the most unnatural moments in Indian Premier League history today during the intense matchup between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore when Faf du Plessis almost suffered an injury due to a callous throw by KL Rahul. The funny thing is that it was not at all a powerful throw but instead it was a lofted throw towards his own teammate Dushmantha Chameera.
The bowler was unable to catch the ball and it bounced straight off the wrist of Faf du Plessis who was caught off guard and the bat fell from his hand. He was seen to be in pain after the ball made contact with his wrist as we know that the wrist of a cricketer is a very important body part for him as it helps them to twist and provide direction to the shots.
This was a very rare happenstance. KL Rahul definitely had no intention to throw the ball willingly towards Faf and he apologised for his mistake. Faf du Plessis was batting on 40 when the incident took place in the thirteenth over. Well, he continued to bat after that and went on to play a fabulous knock of 96 off 64 missing his century yet again by just 4 runs. He was the one man army of RCB in today’s match and he scored about half of their total score. RCB were able to reach a defendable score of 181 thanks to his captain’s knock and they are lucky that the throw by Rahul did not cause a serious injury to Faf du Plessis.
