Tonight’s match in IPL 2022 between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers started off as an intense faceoff between two teams of equal potentials this season but it ended up being a very comfortable victory for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the end. Many might not have expected this result in the game or atleast people had thought that the games will be far more competitive than what we saw tonight but this is just another example to show exactly how unpredictable IPL 2022 is.
LSG won the toss and following the common consensus of all the teams this season, they opted to bowl first. However in the last few matches in the IPL 2022 there has seemingly been a shift of pitch conditions and the team that bats first has won a number of very important matches and we saw exactly that in tonight’s match as well. Royal Challengers were phenomenal in both phases of the game and although Faf du Plessis carried them in batting in the first innings, it was a joint effort from all RCB bowlers in the second innings to make sure that they win the match.
The RCB bowlers were way too clinical in the second innings and it frustrated many LSG players when they were not being able to play a single good shot against them. Perhaps the player who was seen facing this problem the most was Marcus Stoinis. In the over against Josh Hazlewood, he looked annoyed from the very first ball when a his appeal for a wide ball went unheard. When he was dismissed, the Australian did not hold back and he expressed his frustration on the field with an angry celebration.
