Liton Das maiden test ton and Mushfiqur Rahim’s brilliant 91 run innings helped Bangladesh recover after the top order collapsed quite early in the innings.

Bangladesh and Pakistan locked horns with each other to play the first of the two match test series at Chittagong on Friday. After winning the toss skipper Mominul Haque opted to bat first. But things did not go as they planned. Bangladesh lost both their openers within the first hour of the game. Shadman Islam and Saif Hassan both score 14 runs each before falling prey to Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Things went from bad to worse when they lost the wicket their skipper Mominul Haque and Najmul Hossain Shanto in no time. Bangladesh were struggling at 49/4 before the duo of Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim came out with a recovery.
The two stitched a 174-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Liton Das scored his maiden ton in test cricket while Mushfiqur Rahim missed out to score a century by nine runs. Mehdy Hasan smashed an unbeaten 38 runs as Bangladesh reached to a total of 330.
Hasan Ali’s five wicket haul restricted Bangladesh to go further. While Shaheen Afridi Faheem Ashraf took two each.
However, a hilarious incident took place with wicket-keeper batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim during Bangladesh innings. The incident occurred in the 88th over of the match when Shaheen Shah Afridi had the leather in his hand. Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled a delivery way outside the leg stump. The ball went on to hit Rahim’s thigh pad and went for a boundary.
Rahim’s face was extremely funny to watch as the lightning quick delivery hit his leg. The batsmen looked in pain but made some weird faces as soon as the ball hit him.

In response to the total, Babar Azam and co have scored 145 runs without a loss of a single wicket at stumps on Day 2. Abid Ali remained unbeaten on 93 while Abdullah Shafique remained not out on 52.
Pakistan are now trailing by only 185 runs. It will be interesting to see how the team comes out on Day 3.
