Mumbai Indians signed South African prodigy batsman Dewald Brevis in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction for a surprising price of 3 Crores and are reaping the benefits of the same now. He showed his class to the fullest in today’s big match against Punjab Kings and proved why he is called Baby Ab by the people of South Africa and many other fans across the world who see his matches regularly.
Dewald Brevis made his International debut for the South Africa U-19 team a couple of years ago but he gained fame just this year in the 2022 U-19 World Cup in which he was an integral part of the South Africa team. His talent was recognised by the Mumbai Indians scouting team and he is proving them right in the Indian Premier League 2022.
This is only his second match in the Indian Premier League and he has started to show his class so early on itself. In the last match, Brevis showcased his bowling skills as he picked up the big wicket of Virat Kohli against RCB and in this match, he hit 4 sixes consecutively against Rahul Chahar and he score 49 off 25, missing his fifty by just 1 run.
Punjab Kings all-rounder Odean Smith gave away an angry reaction after picking up the wicket of Dewald Brevis as had caused significant damage to Punjab Kings in this match. Thus his angry send-off to Brevis is justified. Upon reaching the dugout, Dewald Brevis was praised by Rohit Sharma and the other members of the team and the captain was also seen hugging him.
