IPL 2022, with the end of the league stage matches the playoffs matches began after a halt of 1 day. In the first qualifiers taking place at Eden Gardens between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals. The two table toppers of this season are playing to get the ticket to the finals.
Gujarat Titans won the toss and chose to bowl first, inviting RR to bat first they got the early breakthrough of Yashasvi Jaiswal. But the innings was carried on by Jos Buttler’s blistering 89 off 56 balls and Sanju Samson’s destructive 47 off 26 balls. With this Rajasthan managed a set a huge total of 188 on the board losing 6 wickets.
But the incident which caught everyone’s eye took place at the last over. Yash Dayal bowled the last over but the last ball was a no ball bowled by him. With a free hit, Ravi Ashwin was on the strike. Dayal tried to bowl wide outside off but the ball went too wide. Riyan Parag who was standing in the non striker end wanted the strike so he ran towards the other end while Ravi Ashwin still unmoved in his position. As a result the keeper collecting the ball threw it to the bowler and the bowler broke the stumps resulting in the wicket of Riyan Parag.
Parag had to go back scoring just 2 off 3 deliveries. Frustrated, Parag didn’t seem happy as he gave a mad look to Ashwin.
