The second qualifier match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders turns out to be thrilling after Dinesh Karthik was dismissed for a duck in the 18th over of the game.

KKR skipper Eoin Morgan put Delhi Capitals to bat after winning the toss. Eoin Morgan came up with the same playing XI which played against RCB in the eliminator. While Delhi Capitals made one change. Marcus Stoinis replaced Tom Curran as DC needed an extra batsman in these situations.
Batting first, DC got off to a flying start. The two openers scored 32 in the first four overs before Varun Chakraborty removed Prithvi Shaw. But Shikhar Dhawan Marcus Stoinis took the innings forward for Delhi. The two had put up a 39-run partnership before Shivam Mavi dismissed Marcus Stoinis in the 12th over of the game. Soon after the dismissal of Stoinis, Shikhar Dhawan threw his wicket too. Dhawan managed to score 36 off 39 deliveries which comprised of a four and two sixes.

In the end Delhi could reach to a total of 135/5 after the completion of 20 overs.
While chasing down the target of 136, Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer got off to a fiery start. The two dealt in sixes and fours and scored 51 runs at the end of the powerplay overs. Venkatesh Iyer reached his fifty in just 38 deliveries. But soon after reaching his fifty he was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada. Iyer managed to score 55 off 41 deliveries which comprised of 4 fours and 3 sixes. Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill lost their wicket in consecutive overs which pulled back the momentum towards Delhi.

Wicket-keeper batsmen Dinesh Karthik walked in to bat after the dismissal of Shubman Gill. Karthik played two balls in Avesh Khan’s over but could not open his account. He was dismissed in the final ball off Rabada’s over. Karthik was clean bowled by Kagiso Rabada as he looked to slog the ball across the line. Rabada bowled a length delivery which was directed towards the stumps.
It was a loose shot from the hands of an experienced batsmen like Karthik. The ball took an inside edge off Karthik’s willow and went on to hit the stumps. Karthik faced three deliveries and could not manage to score a single run.
