If you have seen last night’s encounter between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings, you must know that KKR’s big-hitting allrounder Andre Russell is completely back in form after his unbelievable knock against Punjab Kings last night. The West Indies batsman completely toyed with the bowlers and won the match for KKR with more than 6 overs remaining and made a statement comeback. He had been one of the biggest hitters in the Indian Premier League for a very long time but due to some injury problems and lack of form, he had not been in touch in the last two IPL seasons. However, it seems like the all-rounder is now up and going and this is terrific news for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Andre Russell scored a 70* off 31 last night at a ferocious strike rate of over 225.81. After the early dismissals of Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer, it was starting to look like the hand was going out of hand for KKR but Russel’s innings completely changed the mood of the game. He started playing on the third gear from the very beginning and he was in full-on destructive mode. More importantly, the shots that he played were terrific and it reminded everyone of the vintage Andre Russell of whom every bowler was afraid due to his sheer strength.
A similar moment happened in yesterday’s match between KKR and PBKS when on a particular delivery from Arshdeep Singh, Russell hit a straight four which almost hit both the bowler and the umpire. Luckily, both of them were swift enough to duck the ball and no one was hit.
