Video: Yashasvi Jaiswal walks off before Umpire’s decision in Qualifier 1

IPL 2022, The Indian premier league has been in its knockout stage with teams fighting for the ticket to playoffs. Though the first qualifier still gives a chance to the losing team to go to the final as they will play the qualifier 2 with the winning team in 3rd position vs 4th position. Today, 24th April the first qualifier is taking place at Eden gardens Kolkata between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals.

Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to bowl first. Inviting RR to bat first they got the first breakthrough in the second over itself dismissing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

In the last ball of the second over RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal got a nick and the ball was caught behind by the wicket keeper. A huge appeal followed and even though there was a slight sound caught on the stump mic, umpire Bruce Oxenford apparently failed to hear it. But true sportsmanship was shown by Jaiswal as he knew he nicked the ball and quietly walked off. Watching the batter walk off, a stunned Oxenford changed his decision to out, reluctantly raising his finger.

Though orange cap holder Jos Buttler again delivered for his team in a much required situation with the skipper too giving his 100% to boost their total score. RR finished their first innings with 188 on the board and now GT needs 189 to get the ticket to the final. Both the teams are trying their level best to be in the finals.
