Two of the strongest sides of IPL 2022, namely Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants took on each other last night at the Wankhede stadium in a thrilling encounter. The match might not have had a set of very high scores but it sure was an entertaining match and it was definitely worth a watch. It ended in a close win for Rajasthan Royals and Yuzvendra Chahal, who picked up 4 wickets against LSG and totally dominated the Lucknow Super Giants batting line-up, was undoubtedly the best performer of Rajasthan Royals last night. However, he got involved in a big controversy during last night’s match and this is what we shall be discussion in this article.
In the 18th over of the match when Lucknow Super Giants needed about 41 runs to win from 15 deliveries, and Yuzvendra Chahal, who was bowling the over, faced tailender Dushmantha Chameera of Sri Lanka. In one of the balls, Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a terrific off spinning delivery and it grazed past the wideline. It was a big spin however and thus it should not have been a wide but the Umpire decided to call it a wide irrespectively. Yuzi Chahal had a great argument with the Umpire regarding that wide decision.
On the very next ball, Chahal’s off spin hit the pads of Dushmantha Chameera and there was a huge shout by the RR players. But yet again, the Umpire gave not out and RR captain Sanju Samson went for a review instantly.
The review showed clearly that it was an LBW and thus the Umpire had to change his decision. Rejuvenation for Yuzvendra Chahal!
