Australia have defeated England in the second test of Ashes 2021-22 by a huge margin of 275 runs and with this, they have secured a comfortable 2-0 lead in the series. The match that same Marnus Labuschagne win the Man of the match award due to his centurion knock in the first innings, started on a high for the Aussies but by the fifth day, it really looked like England could pull off a draw, solely for the incredible performance of one man – England wicket-keeper Jos Buttler.
When England were really struggling in the second innings, seeing the mammoth target that had been set by the Aussies, Jos Buttler’s resilience gave them hope. It was sure that England were not going to win the match in any condition but the keeper gave the fans hope for a possible draw which would have given them some much required confidence for the rest of the series.
Buttler’s sole objective was to stay grounded at one end till the very end of Day 5 ensuring a draw. And he was very damn close to achieving it.
Jos Buttler scored 26 runs off 207 deliveries – yes you heard it right, but ended up giving away his wicket in the most unfortunate fashion, via hit wicket !
When England were nearing the end of the day, he overstepped way to much backwards and ended up stepping at the base of the wicket, hitting himself out.
