WATCH: Kemar Roach Stuns Joe Root with a fabulous delivery – Root gets clean bowled

West Indies are currently facing off against England in the first match of their 3-match test series on their home turf, Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Having won the toss, England opted to bat first and they gave a pretty good performance in the first innings. However, the top order of England gave a terrible performance and it was Jonny Bairstow who finally ended up taking charge of England’s innings.

England was off to a terrible start as openers Alex Lees and Zak Crawley departed for a single-digit score. However, what shocked everyone was the dismissal of England captain Joe Root. Joe Root, who is undoubtedly one of the best Test batters in the world right now, completely misread the delivery by Kemar Roach. He left the ball and it hit the stumps, completely shocking everyone.

It was not totally Joe Root’s fault though as Kemar Roach’s delivery was almost unplayable. It was a perfect delivery. So the England captain had to depart and the players who followed, namely Dan Lawrence and Ben Stokes met similar fates.

It was then that Jonny Bairstow took charge of England’s innings. He played a phenomenal knock of 140 runs off 259 deliveries and scored almost half of his team’s total runs. Wicket-keeper Ben Foakes also played a decent knock of 42 off 87 and thus England was able to reach a respectable first-innings total of 311.

In response, West Indies have so far scored 61/0 by session 2 and they trail by 250 runs. Day 2 of the match is underway and it is a pretty open game. Any team can win it from here.
