WATCH: Krunal Pandya clapped after Deepak Hooda played a brilliant shot

Lucknow Super Giants player Deepak Hooda played a fabulous knock against Gujarat Titans tonight in their first match of the IPL 2022 campaign. This was the first time that the two teams were ever playing in an IPL match and it ended up being a trailblazing thriller where both sides were equally deserving of a win but Hardik Pandyaโ€™s Gujarat Titans ended up winning the match and they thus registered their first-ever win in the Indian Premier League.

As a result, Deepak Hoodaโ€™s fabulous innings was completely wasted but that does not mean that he should not be given his due credit. In fact, he alongside Ayush Badoni was the best player in the Lucknow Super Giants batting order tonight and there is absolutely no doubt in that.

Gujarat Titans bowler Mohammad Shami wrought havoc in the Lucknow Super Giants’ top order with the new ball in the powerplay. He sent LSG captain KL Rahul back to the pavilion on the very first delivery and went on to pick 2 more important wickets in his first three overs. LSG thus seemed to be in big trouble but that was when Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoniโ€™s partnership completely changed the fate of Lucknow Super Giants.

Deepak Hooda scored 55 off 41 while youngster Ayush Badoni scored 54 off 41 and stole the show. Due to their knocks, LSG were able to reach a respectable total of 158 runs which was a defendable total. Unfortunately, Gujarat Titans ended up winning the match pretty convincingly.

During the match, Deepak Hooda played a couple of huge shots which included a six that shocked even Krunal Pandya. He started clapping on a particular boundary of Deepak Hooda and this was a big moment given the long negative history that the two players have.
