Day 1 of the First test match between India and Sri Lanka was played today and it was a pretty dominating display by the Blues from the very beginning. The duo of Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma gave Sri Lanka just the start that they needed and team India’s middle-order to things from the next level from there. However, it was Rishabh Pant who impressed netizens the most.
After the departure of Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal, Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli took charge. Virat Kohli, who was playing his 100th Test match today scored 45 runs in 76 deliveries and missed his half-century by just 5 runs. Hanuma Vihari on the other hand scored a sensational 58 off 128 and proved how much of a great Test batsman he is.
With this, Hanuma Vihari has also probably taken snatched the spot away from either Cheteshwar Pujara or Ajinkya Rahane for good.
After Kohli’s dismissal came to Rishabh Pant and that’s when the party started. We all know that Rishabh Pant does not like to maintain a low strike rate even in a Test match and he started playing in his signature style from the very beginning.
Today, Pant played one of his best Test knocks in a long while and made scoring 96 off 97 look like a piece of cake. Unfortunately, he had to depart on the very next delivery of Suranga Lakmal and thus missed his half-century by just 4 runs!

Rishabh Pant was extremely sad about giving away his wicket in such cheap fashion after playing so well for the entire day. Even after getting back to the pavilion, he was visibly very upset with himself. He is usually always laughing in any situation but he looked really heartbroken after missing out on his century today.
