Well, you can argue that Virat Kohli’s form across all the formats has dropped miserably in the last few years and that he has not been the same player that he used to be two years ago. However, even the harshest Kohli critics will have to admit that Virat Kohli is one of the greatest cricketers to have ever stepped foot on the pitch and by far one of the top 3 Indian cricketers of all time.
The former Indian captain is currently playing his 100th test match against Sri Lanka in the Punjab PCA Stadium and to mark his legacy, Indian captain Rohit Sharma did a very wholehearted gesture that will surely melt your heart.
Team India dominated Sri Lanka totally in the first innings of the Test. Batting first, India declared after scoring 574 runs and are totally running the game already. It was when India was stepping on the field to field for Sri Lanka’s first innings that Rohit Sharma did a very good gesture.
Virat Kohli had already entered the field but Rohit Sharma requested him to re-enter in the presence of all the other players so that they could give him a guard of honour in the event of his 100th test match.
Virat Kohli did that and received the guard of honour. And fans just loved the undying chemistry between Rohit and Kohli.
However, Kohli would have liked to score a bit more runs in his special match. He missed his half-century in the first innings by just 5 runs and will thus look to score much more in the second innings to make the match memorable.
Coming on to bat in the second innings, Sri Lanka highly underperformed. At stumps, they have scored 108/4 and Team India will look to send them all back to the pavilion by the first quarter of Day 3.
