The batting performance of Team India improved a lot in the second innings of the ongoing second Test between India and Sri Lanka. The hosts were able to score only 352 runs in the first innings whereas they have already overtaken that landmark in the second innings with 4 wickets in hand. India has a clear lead of over 397 runs and there is no way that Sri Lanka can win it from here.
Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer both scored half-centuries in the second innings. Shreyas Iyer, who played fabulously in the first innings and missed out on his century by just 8 runs, is not out so far in the second innings and has scored 62 runs so far. It will be interesting to see if he is able to score his much deserved century in the second innings. Both Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin are still on the pitch and it is the same duo who made sure that India went past a respectable total in the first innings.
However, someone whose performance today was very underrated was Rohit Sharma. The Indian captain missed out on his half-century by just 4 runs. He scored 46 off 79 and played brilliantly. In fact, Rohit also played the best shot on Day 2 of the second test.
Playing against Sri Lankan spinner Embuldenya, Rohit Sharma fooled everyone with a cunning reverse sweep which went for a four. The fans and commentators praised Rohit a lot for his shot.
