The two new franchises of Indian Premier League season 15 (IPL 2022), i.e, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans are taking on each other in both of their first matches ever in the Indian Premier League, tonight at the Wankhede Stadium and it has been off to a very shocking start. Gujarat Titans are completely dominating Lucknow so far in the match and Lucknow’s strong batting side have found it difficult to get a proper footing so far in the match.
Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya won the toss in the match and opted to bowl first. It turned out to be the best decision as to their pacers, especially Mohammad Shami wrought havoc in his first three overs and picked up three big wickets. He picked up the big wicket of LSG captain KL Rahul in the very first ball of the match and he had to depart for a duck which is a very rare moment in IPL history.
He also took the wickets of Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey who are both very important players in the Lucknow Super Giants setup. However, after the fall of the first four wickets, Lucknow Super Giants were able to make a comeback, thanks to the partnership between Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni. Thanks to their partnership, Lucknow is slowly coming back into the match.
In between the match, however, Gujarat’s drafted player Shubman Gill showed a moment of excellence on the field with his fielding skills. He took a sensational catch to dismiss West Indies batsman Evin Lewis and the commentators and even the fans were applauding him after taking the match. It was a great catch and Shubman Gill deserved all the credits for it.
