Chennai Super Kings have been off to an awful start to their IPL 2022 campaign as opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has departed for a duck in the very first match of IPL 2022. This is indeed a big shock for CSK fans and the team as well Ruturaj Gaikwad was their best batsman last season and he also won the Orange Cap award in IPL 2021. They are now in big concern for this match and the rest of the season as well because if Ruturaj Gaikwad is indeed in a bad form, then Chennai Super Kings are in big trouble this season.
KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first. Umesh Yadav came on to bowl the first over of the match for KKR and he was facing Ruturaj Gaikwad. On the very third legal delivery of the match (as there were two extras in the over), Umesh Yadav bowled an out-swinging delivery against Ruturaj and the youngster played a callous delivery without giving much thought into it. It was caught behind effortlessly by the KKR Nitish Rana who was standing at slip and Ruturaj Gaikwad thus had to depart.
This is only the first time that Ruturaj has departed for a duck in the IPL after 20 innings and it is really shocking that a man in such good form has departed so cheaply. However, we must consider the fact that Ruturaj Gaikwad has just recovered from an injury and so it might be the reason for his poor performance. He will definitely be back in his best form in the next few matches.
