What a catch by Van der Dussen! Pollard has to depart for 26

West Indies and South Africa are currently squaring off in the first match of the day in the T20 World Cup 2021, at the Dubai International Stadium. Both the teams played their first match of the tournament and it is high time that they start making a comeback now. The group in which both the teams have been placed, it will be very difficult to qualify directly to the Semi Finals and thus every match becomes important.

After a poor performance by their batsmen, South Africa had gone very close to a win in their match against Australia but they just weren’t lucky enough. On the other hand, West Indies suffered a humiliating defeat in the hands of arch rivals England as they put on a first innings total of just 55 runs – the third lowest total ever registered in the T20 World Cup, and the lowest registered ever by a mainstream Cricketing team. The first 2 places are occupied by the Netherlands.

Coming on to today’s match at the Dubai International Stadium, South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first. West Indies opener Evin Lewis gave them a dream start as he scored a quickfire fifty in just 35 deliveries.

However, the middle order of the West Indies side failed to impress once again and the bad form of their captain Kieron Pollard in the T20 World Cup continued. However, his dismissal tonight was rather unfortunate as nobody had expected Rassie van der Dussen to stoop to such lows to take the catch. It was a brilliant catch by the all-rounder. South Africans are known for their fielding abilities and Van der Dussen proved why once again today.
